Elder Team

Daniel Powell
Senior Pastor / Elder
Bio: Daniel grew up in Pocatello, Idaho as the son of a pastor. After graduating from Highland High School, he studied at Moody Bible Institute (BA) and then The Master’s Seminary (MDiv). After seminary, Daniel, his wife Rachel, and their five children served in the Middle East for almost 10 years. They served within the local church, teaching and discipling, and Daniel served as a pastor during their final years. They also helped start a TMAI pastoral training institute through Grace Ministries International. Their family moved back to the States during the summer of 2021 when Daniel became the Senior Pastor at New Hope Baptist Church.

Daniel is passionate about the glory of Christ. He desires to see God exalted and the church purified through the preaching of the Word and discipleship. He wants to see the church unified as individuals grow together into a life of single-minded devotion to God so that the glory of God may be put on display before a watching world.


Ken Barnes
Bio: Ken and his lovely bride, Cindy, moved to Nampa from Wyoming in 1999, and found New Hope Baptist just a couple of months after their arrival (it was called Berean Baptist back then). Ken’s background includes degrees in Math and Physical Science. He has taught Math and Computer Science at the high school and collegiate levels, and today sometimes teaches Computers, Math, Astronomy and Chemistry in a local homeschool co-op, which has involved all 4 of his kids. He pays the bills by writing software for the heating & air-conditioning industry. Over the years, he has been involved in several ministries, including AWANA, A/V & computer tech, SS teacher, Bible study leader, worship team, apologetics team, Deacon, and Elder. His current ministry focus is Apologetics, and more specifically, training others to know, share and defend the Word of God.


Kyle Maschek
Bio: Kyle grew up in the Magic Valley where he married the love of his life Bobbie and they were blessed with 2 children. After graduating from Crown College in Minnesota, with a Bachelor’s degree in Ministry, they moved back west to Nampa. Kyle and his family have attended New Hope Baptist church since 2012. He is serving on the worship team, and in Young Adult ministries and recently began serving as an Elder. In his off time Kyle enjoys woodworking, hunting, camping, and anything that involves family time.


Dan Holly
Bio: Dan has been attending New Hope Baptist Church since April 2018. He has a passion for apologetics and a desire to share God’s word with others. As such, he currently serves in the Men’s Ministry, Children’s Ministry and AWANAs at New Hope. In addition, he also works with the Creation Training Initiative organization. Dan is a native of Southern California and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He is an avid reader, loves the gym and lives in Nampa with his wife Raynee.


Deacon Team

Tony Hensley
Bio: Tony was born and raised in Idaho and took a couple out of state detours after high school before settling in Nampa with his wife and children. He and his family started attending New Hope in 2013 after his stint in military, school, and heavy machinery mechanic work. He currently serves as the youth director and helps out with other deacon duties. Tony’s hobbies include anything to do with guns, enjoying the outdoors and a love of bacon. Tony loves to put his faith to work just as James chapter 2 instructs us to do.


Peter Jurhs
Bio: Peter grew up in McMinnville, Oregon and graduated from Northwest Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics in 1998. In 2009, he graduated from Boise State University with a Master of Science degree in Management Information Systems. After nearly 15 years of working for the Office of Information Technology at Boise State University, he became the Director of Information Services for the Nampa School District. He and his wife, Adria, have been attending and serving together in various roles at New Hope since 2010. They have 4 children. Their youngest son, Cal, has special needs and has been diagnosed with myoclonic astatic epilepsy (Doose Syndrome). He has been serving as a deacon since 2013. Peter enjoys reading science fiction, taking his boys fishing, rooting for the Braves, and anything geeky.


Joel Jackson
Bio: Joel, his wife Kelly, and their 3 boys moved to Nampa in 2015.  The entire family was blessed to find New Hope Church right away.  Joel and Kelly wasted no time in finding ways to serve in the church. Joel joined the Deacon team in 2018.  Joel works as a trainer for GTL based out of Fruitland, Idaho. Joel enjoys spending as much time with his family as possible and the occasional motorcycle ride with his wife.



Deaconess Team

Jennilyn Parish
Bio: Jennilyn was raised in the Magic Valley area on a small farm and made the move to Nampa in 2001 with her husband James and their two daughters. In 2015 she and James adopted a third daughter who is now just entering her teen years. She has served as a deaconess for many years and enjoys helping in finance and women’s ministry. Her passions consist of photography, building and creating, exploring new places, doing anything outdoorsy and spending quality time with her family. 


Linnae Wilcox
Bio: Linnae was raised in Iowa and moved to Nampa in 1982. God drew her back to serving Him in the local church body at New Hope in 2014. She has enjoyed being involved in various children’s ministries including AWANA, Sunday School, VBS, and Operation Christmas Child. More recently, she has taken on the treasurer responsibilities and she loves to help in other areas as needs arise. In her free time, she enjoys playing the piano, working in the yard, 4 wheeling and shopping. 


Raynee Holly
Bio: Raynee was born in Southern California but happily moved to Nampa with her husband Dan in 2018. She worked in the aerospace industry in CA for 30 years. After attending New Hope, they knew it was their new church home. Having served over 20 years in children’s ministry, Raynee was excited to begin serving at New Hope. Currently, she is a children’s teacher, an AWANA worker and she helps with communion. She absolutely loves being a wife, mother and grandma and spending time with family and friends. In her spare time, she enjoys quilting, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, and watching anything to do with mystery.
