Our youth ministry, The Journey, is based upon 2 Tim 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” As a youth ministry we are focused on 3 areas….The journey of our faith, the journey to connect and the journey to the lost. We provide opportunities for our kids to participate in all three areas of our youth ministry, with the primary focus being on the Word of God.
Our Bible classes for youth are held on Sunday mornings at 11 am after the morning worship services. Our classes are divided into high school and middle school. The focus of our Bible class is spiritual growth, fellowship and Biblical knowledge. Our classes focus on teaching from books of the Bible as well as some topical studies. Currently our middle school class is studying the life of David (from various books of the Old Testament). Our high school class is currently in a series titled “The Truth Project” which is part DVD series and part discussion.
Youth Group – open for all Middle and High school ages – is held on Sunday nights from 6:30-8:00. The focus of our youth group night is spiritual growth, fellowship and outreach. Some people arrive a little early for hang time, playing football, basketball or just hanging out. At 6:30, we begin group or team building games. We conclude our youth group night with Bible study, which is the main reason we meet.
In addition to Bible classes and youth group, our youth ministry plans and participates in service projects to widows and the elderly in the church. Our students are encouraged to be involved in the church body, and many of our youth participate in church ministries such as AWANA, Children’s Church, Worship Team and Tech Team. Throughout the year we also have events such as outreaches, winter tubing, missions trips and activities, MUD night (with real mud…and lots of it!) and some separate girls and guys activities.
